Trustees
The hall is run by a committee of local volunteers. Stop any of us for a chat, or email villagehall@broadhinton.org.uk.
Getting involved
We're always looking for new people, and there's more than one way to help.
Strategic trustees look after the big picture: the hall's future, planning, governance and funding. Area leads each take charge of one part of running the hall, such as bookings, events, maintenance, communications or fire safety, with others to help them.
If you'd rather help now and then, we need people to confirm bookings, do fire safety checks, garden and keep the building in good order. Give as much or as little time as suits you.
We'd also like to start a get-together every few months, so volunteers and trustees can share ideas, talk through problems and plan ahead.
To find out more, call Nick Moakes on 07918 630 712 or Mark Miller on 07830 395 605, or email villagehall@broadhinton.org.uk.

Common concerns
Time
Trustees meet once a month for a couple of hours. Jobs come out of the meetings, but the deadlines are flexible. With the new roles, the work is shared more widely, so being a trustee takes less time than it used to.
Experience
If you care about the villages and have some common sense and a bit of time, you're qualified. Nobody does it alone. When a job needs an expert, such as a lawyer or an electrician, we pay one.
What trustees do
We have a full list of what trustees do, and of each management area and its tasks. Ask us for a copy.
Who can join
We want new faces and new ideas, not just the usual suspects.
Age
We'd especially like to hear from parents, younger adults and people who use the hall. You don't need to be retired. Being a trustee also looks good on a CV or a university application.
Legal responsibility
The personal risk is small, and our insurance covers trustee decisions. The law generally protects trustees who act honestly and reasonably.
Travel
Trustees often join meetings on Zoom or Teams, and nobody has to make every meeting.
Meetings
Area leads don't go to committee meetings. They keep in touch with a trustee before and after. Volunteers never have to attend a meeting at all.
